Caffe Buon Gusto - Brooklyn

Typically, when dining in a group of four or six, it’s common for a good server to ensure there's enough of the appetizer to go around. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Even though we 'shared' the salad, it was quite small. The service felt uneven; after we placed our appetizer and dinner orders, the manager approached just moments later to ask if we wanted to order. What was going on there? Additionally, when the appetizers, bread, and other items were served, our server and the busgirl awkwardly reached from my right to hand dishes to my husband on the left. Why not just go around to his side? My orecchiette with shrimp and veggies was decent, and my friend’s dish seemed fine, but his girlfriend raised concerns about the lobster in her pasta. I would have too. My husband also complained about his chicken tenders, which came with a messy portobello cream sauce. At that point, I felt like I was in a bad dream. Pros: Nice service. Cons: - The staff really needs to go back and learn more about good serving practices. - Please don’t rush to pick up our check – or anyone's, for that matter. For goodness’ sake, can’t you wait until people have actually finished their meals? Do you really need to do that? - The Mojito Mocktail was half-filled with ice...really? - Apple pie should be served warm, not cold. - And that red food coloring drizzle—whether raspberry, strawberry, or cherry—on the cheesecake made it look unappetizing. - The bread in the basket was disappointing: cold, doughy pizza squares? This is not what I consider Italian fare. Overall, I had high hopes for Caffe Buon, but the experience left much to be desired.

In a city filled with fantastic Italian restaurants, Caffe Buon Gusto may not be the most noteworthy, but it certainly gets the job done. Their longevity, with multiple locations, speaks to their quality. For some reason, we had never visited before, but recently we were searching for a place to enjoy lunch outdoors. Their inviting tables were perfectly located for parking a stroller next to them. We settled in under the sun, watching the activity on Montague Street. The service was outstanding—both friendly and accommodating. I chose the pappardelle with mushrooms and sausage; it was a bit pricier than you might expect for pasta at lunch, but the portion was generous and the flavors were quite good. Coupled with a nice salad and their excellent bread basket, it made for a satisfying meal for the two of us.

This quaint Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side has garnered excellent reviews, so my girlfriend and I were eager to try it out. Unfortunately, we left feeling underwhelmed by the food. The location has a cozy and romantic atmosphere, and the staff was very friendly. The prices are also quite reasonable. The pasta dishes are served in generous portions and quite heavy, but the flavors didn’t impress us. While they were decent, they lacked anything remarkable or exciting. Given the abundance of outstanding Italian cuisine in the city, Caffe Buon Gusto seems to be more of an Instagram hype than a true culinary gem. And that's the scoop.

Really nice spot in BK! Great outdoor patio in the bake. Cute too. Got pasta and fish and both were delicious. Would definitely return!

My experience at Cafe Buon Gusto was okay. My group and I came around 11:00 AM, and we were pretty lucky because most restaurants in the area don't open until 12 noon, so we decided to check this place out! We received pretty good customer service, so I was happy about that. I ordered the seafood linguini, which was good, but a tad bit on the salty side. The fried calamari had a rubbery taste, so it was hard to enjoy, but the sauce was delicious! I even dipped some of the complimentary focaccia bread in it. I was surprised to find that the brunch plates seemed pretty empty. My two friends ordered the eggs Benedict, and the portion sizes were pretty small. This was a tad disappointing.
