I love second cup and try to support them when I can given its a Canadian company. I think they do the best London Fogs. The reason I am giving this location one star is due to its extremely limited hours. I have walked over several different times throughout the year to find it closed. I just went last Sunday January 23. They are currently operating on a 10 to 3 schedule and closed Sundays. I would understand a bit more if it was in a high business area like downtown Toronto where people work 9 to 5 hours; however this location is surrounded by residential and some businesses, and the businesses do not all shut down at 5pm either. It needs to be open a bit longer even to 8 pm. I'm sure there are people like myself who enjoy picking up a coffee or tea while out for a nice evening walk.
I adore the lady running the shop lately but it's been frustrating to walk over from work for a fresh brew, only to find the lights off and doors locked. It is 9.45am and still no one inside. Unfortunately, this is happening often
Their cappuccino and espresso were good and their blueberry muffins were delish ? ? ?
I have been coming to this location for years. Although the drinks are still pretty good, things unfortunately have changed in terms of cleanliness and overall look of the place. Maybe it’s because of COVID that things have changed so much but is it too hard to keep the place clean and tidy? I won’t be going back there anymore because although the service is okay, I’m disgusted with the condition of the place. A couple months back the guy behind the counter was not wearing a mask even though there are signs on the door that everyone coming in needs a mask so I don’t see why he felt that he didn’t need to be wearing one, he’s not above the rule. He was also sweating so much so that it literally dropped into my coffee drink, completely disgusting and unacceptable, especially with COVID going on. I had to throw out all of my drinks. I did call customer service about this and they did apologize and said they would investigate with the store and would send me a gift card in the mail, never got it. I decided to give it a second chance and although they are now wearing masks, when I went in today I saw several pieces of fly tape hanging on the back wall which is where the blenders and drink supplies are kept, absolutely gross to look at. Chairs and tables piled up at the back, half eaten dessert sitting on a table by the counter where you pick up your drinks. It used to be pristine and neat. Even the cake display has lights off and melted items in it. I will never go back, so put off. I always give a second chance but after seeing the condition of this place today, it seems to be going downhill. At least Tim Hortons and Starbucks are clean, too bad because Second Cup used to be good. The drinks are good but if I see a place is not taken care of, then I don’t have faith in the quality of the food items/drinks I am consuming.
