From our normal pizza place to taste grimaldi. we were greeted and sat fast when we came in. decoration was great! had server ryan, who was also excellent! made several recommendations and was very friendly. the pizza we ordered was a simple traditional style with only cheese/pepperoni. it was one of the best thin crust pizzas I had. we will definitely be back!
Grimaldi 's has become our go-to pizza place for the last couple of years. Thin and crispy, wood fired pizza is the best! Expect a wait on weekends. Also with the crowds, oven space (to make that beautiful pie) is limited, so pizzas can take an hour or more. Enjoy a glass of wine or beverage and spend time with your friends/family while you wait! Outdoor seating in the summer is also a plus! Personal favorites: Brooklyn Bridge, Margherita pizza!
Having been to the original under the Brooklyn Bridge, I was really looking forward to this. And I wasn't disappointed by the pizza; it's thin and crispy, not at all like a New York slice but also not thin and airy like a Neapolitan pie (which is my favorite). This is more like a New Haven style pie; crispy to the edges but with an amazing brick oven flavor, having been cooked at 1200 degrees in a coal-burning brick oven. The toppings were fresh and plentiful and the sauce was simple and sweet, as I expected. What DID disappoint me was the wait. The restaurant was less than half empty during the late lunch hours on a Saturday and it still took well over 30 minutes to get a pizza that takes no more than 3 minutes in the oven to cook. Being gluttons for punishment, we tried to order a cannoli afterwards but that also took so long that we just decided to cancel it. I'm not sure where the disconnect was; our server was perfectly pleasant and seemed like he was keeping busy with all of his tables.. perhaps a bottle neck near the oven? Who knows these days. So anyway, definitely a four star pizza. But with crazy wait times you might be better off ordering online and just picking it up.
This used to be my favorite pizza place, but the prices have really increased. I'm not sure it's a good value anymore. It took a long time for our large cheese pizza to arrive and the restaurant wasn't even busy. It was early, too, so I don't think they were doing much carry-out yet. But I would return to get the Margareta Pizza. Really quite good.
