Custom House Grill - Brockport

Food is overpriced for what you get, and service is less than desirable. Customers shouldn't have to ask for things multiple times and never have it show up. It did seem like there was only one person taking care of the bar AND tablea...maybe hire more staff? There are better options nearby.

We visited in the afternoon when the restaurant wasn't too crowded. The service was quite good, and we enjoyed a pleasant view as we sat by the canal. We ordered shrimp tacos and a BLT. In town for Mothers Day to visit our son at SUNY Brockport. thought this would be a good place to Eat and Have a Drink. ordered our food and French onion soup as appetizer. 20 minutes later we were told no French onion soup. Took 45 minutes to get our food. I ordered a Ruben sandwich. The toast was burnt and the corned beef was like beef jerky. slow service and unfortunately, I do not think I would visit this place again.

The shrimp and carnitas tacos were packed with flavor, though the carnitas could have been a bit moister, and the veggie tacos had a touch more salt than we would have liked. However, these minor preferences didn't overshadow the overall taste and experience. What truly made the evening special was the service. The staff that night was outstanding—prompt, attentive, and cheerful. Their positive energy and attention to detail enhanced our dining experience. We left with satisfied appetites and happy hearts. I highly recommend this place!

The food was quite good overall. I tried the onion soup, which was delicious, but the bread wasn't toasted, so it could have been better. I enjoyed sitting by the canal; the atmosphere was very pleasant. I’d love to come back on a rainy day because the vibe is quite nice. However, it’s strange that the online menu didn't match what was available in the restaurant. I was really looking forward to the crab dip, but it wasn’t listed on the menu there! The service was adequate, but the waitress brought us the bill without checking if we wanted anything else, so we had to ask her to revise it so we could get another drink. It felt a bit like we were being rushed out since she seemed eager to finish her shift, which was off-putting. Overall, I’m willing to give it another try, hoping these issues were just due to the staff on duty that night.
