I enjoyed visiting the Hornby and other museums, where I had some hands-on fun with a few young boys setting up trains and cars on the tracks. While there is a model train museum in Brighton, I found the models there to be much older. Although Broadstairs doesn’t have any vegan dining options, I did check out Café and Shakey Shakey in Ramsgate. Beach Buoys in Ramsgate and Aqua 43 Café in Broadstairs also had a delightful vegan special that included a sweet tart, salad, and new potatoes. This is an updated review from my previous rating on April 14, 2022.
We spent a few nights here, and Neale was a friendly and welcoming host. The breakfast was delicious. My vegan breakfast included potato hash, smoked tofu, mushrooms, tomatoes, and two sausages. Neale was kind enough to swap tomatoes for baked beans for my husband, who prefers them in his hash. Breakfast was delivered to our room along with a complimentary fresh fruit salad and a lovely note. Our room (Fenbein) overlooked the street and the beautiful surroundings.
As for breakfast… wow! I opted for the fully cooked breakfast with their "Fluffy Eggs," which are a specialty at Copperfields—absolutely fantastic! I can’t quite describe them; you’ll just have to try them for yourself! I could easily see myself living there, but since I have my own house, I think Neale and Julie would just have to meet my Fluffy Egg demands if I did! I will definitely be coming back!
