So I have to preface this by saying that as far as food goes- Cheeseboat is the best Georgian cuisine in NYC. And I’ve had them all- even the newer one in Chelsea (great service and amazing spot- food is sub par). However at Cheeseboat, The owner and his mother are awesome. The level of hospitality the owner (a young man) shows is commiserate with the Georgian reputation of hospitality. The mom is the best cook. Not being hyperbolic. Literally THE BEST. Our favorite place!! All cheese fan must come visit here!! We always get cheese bread here and that worth price!! Downside, it depends on the day but staffs service are not very good. Less hospitality.
Went on a trip to NYC and decided to have some Georgian food. As it turned out there is nothing Georgian about it, the hinkali weren’t made right, hachapuri (so-called cheese boats) were okay, but I am not sure if they used suluguni cheese, doubt it. The prices are crazy, and the tip is included even though I was upset with my food and did not want to leave a 18% tip it was mandatory. The menu promised Georgian wine, but they don’t have license.
