Cafe' Flexaret - Brnenec

Flexaret is proof that hospitality can be operated honestly, without ulterior motives. The interior is very nice, the service is very pleasant, and the cold kitchen is of high quality. Most of the food comes from smaller regional producers. Excellent coffee. The non-smoking environment completes the perfect café for a glass of wine, a well-poured Richard beer, or coffee and a dessert. If you're lucky, there may be an evening concert or exhibition in the cellar, also very tastefully decorated, turning an afternoon coffee into a pleasant evening gathering. I recommend this place to everyone who enjoys quality, peace, and intelligent company. Positive energy radiates from this place, so go and experience it for yourself.

Quite nice but not quite there. Shame really. I liked the entrance and bar sculpted out of glass bricks and the warm wooden interior beyond. Granted a little more decoration might not hurt, but then again, they may not want to divert attention from the many exhibitions on display throughout the year. Let's get to the coffee though seeing this is a cafe after all. They offer a Portuguese commodity brand called Delta of which I had the Superior blend the espresso had a timid body with almost no acidity at all. In fact, the only thing it did have was a lack of anything to make my mouth cringe. Very average. Unlike their coffee, their cakes were absolutely mouth watering. That chocolate explosion called Fondant was unlike any other chocolate creamy cake I had in a long time. It did make up for the disappointing espresso. Hope they take a queue and source some coffee from one of Brno's local roasters instead of importing commodity coffee in vain.
