The Grain House - Bristol, City of

Although the ambiance, cake, and coffee were satisfactory, the service was extremely poor. It was a simple order of 2 espressos, an Americano, and 2 slices of cake, but the waitress had to confirm our order three times. We wanted to sit in the upstairs gallery but couldn't without the waitress unlocking the door for us. She brought our coffee up, but forgot the cake, and when we inquired about it, we were told impatiently that both waitresses were busy. Eventually, after a long wait, 3 slices of cake appeared instead of the 2 we had ordered, and our drinks had gone cold. When we complained, there were no apologies, and we were made to feel like it was our fault. We asked for forks for the cake, and the waitress, who had them on the tray, handed them over without an apology. The worst part was the attitude of the waitress, who treated us like an inconvenience. We decided not to bother asking for a refund for the extra cake, as it would have taken too long and caused more confusion.

I have visited this restaurant multiple times and it is always good. The beds and common areas are comfortable. The breakfast is excellent but not included in the price, which overall is reasonable. The staff is cheerful and helpful. I am very satisfied with my experience and highly recommend it.

With two young children in tow, we stopped by to satisfy their sugar cravings! The adults enjoyed coffee and tea while the kids indulged in huge chocolate muffins. The prices were very reasonable, the staff was friendly, and the toilets were clean and easily accessible. Overall, it was a nice place to visit.

We stopped in for a quick lunch at the cafe, which was not very busy. Unfortunately, there were limited vegetarian options on the menu. My wife asked if the ham could be removed from the ham and cheese panini, but we were told this was not possible. We ended up ordering a Mediterranean Salad, a ham and cheese panini, elderflower drink, and a dandelion and burdock. However, there were some mix-ups with the order, including receiving a glass of Brewdog Porter instead of the dandelion and burdock. The waiter also had difficulty understanding English. The panini finally arrived 40 minutes after ordering. With so many other dining options in the area, I expected better service and effort. Overall, we would not return to this cafe.
