I could rave about the amazing decor, the comfortable seating, and the perfect atmosphere for sipping coffee, but that would overshadow the quality of the coffee itself. Kit, the man behind the coffee section at Wild at Heart, is as passionate about his brews as anyone I’ve ever met. He has created a coffee setup that, while on a smaller scale, would rival the brew labs found in Edinburgh. Not only does Wild at Heart offer a wide selection of espresso-based drinks, but Kit has also gone to great lengths to source the finest beans for their Aeropress and Clover options. If you’re not familiar with those terms, don’t worry; all you really need to know is that Wild at Heart is an excellent spot for enjoying high-quality coffee.

And I’m so glad I did! The coffee was fantastic, and the homemade cake was delicious, served on beautiful vintage china. They also offer lovely antipasti for sharing! I truly believe that the best places are run by wonderful people, and Catie, Mandy, and Isobel are just that. I loved it so much that I managed to convince them to hire me as a general assistant. They recently expanded their hours from Thursday to Saturday, transforming the café’s atmosphere in the evenings with fresh flowers swapped out for candles in bottles, giving it the feel of a charming continental café bar. Where else in Bristol can you unwind with a large cup of coffee, a glass of prosecco, and a light bite at 9 PM? As I said, it’s just brilliant.
