After noticing someone with takeout Asian food, and being around lunchtime, appetites were lit so we hit Google to see what was in the area. And up popped Mizu Japanese Restaurant, only a few minutes walk from where we were...so we went. And we're so glad we did. We both ordered the Salmon Sashimi Bento Boxes $22 each) which came with Miso Soup. The boxes were filled with a beautiful array of unique items and the salmon fresh and delicious. We loved it, and now Mizu is on our lunch list of driving to dining destinations. We are hungry to explore more of their mouth-watering menu!
Mizu 'water ' is definitely my favourite Japanese restaurant in Brisbane for its price. A close contender to Sono for quality, although given Mizu 's more casual feel I wouldn 't put too much stock in comparisons. Sono is five star food in an upmarket restaurant setting, while Mizu is five star food in a humble cafe setting. Combining a very casual and comfortable environment, personable service and the freshest produce, Mizu is a great place to have a celebration with friends, a casual catch up or a relaxed dinner date that will impress your beau. One of my definite favourite dishes is the 'Buri Shioyaki ' the salt grilled king fish. The simple method of cooking lets the impeccably fresh fish be the star of the show. I 've had it a number of times and it 's consistently amazing. They also do daily blackboard specials which keep things interesting. Another cool feature is that each meal comes out served in a unique Japanese ceramic dish which accentuates the natural beauty of the food 's presentation. The have a good range of shoju Japanese alcohol and occasionally host sake tasting. They also run cooking classes, which you can check out in the events section of their website.
Been here twice now and heading back soon Super quality sashimi and everything else we tried also Not cheap but great value Japanese food with japanese (excellence) and chef
I have been here on numerous occasions , it is one of the lesser known Japanese restaurants , but always comes up time after time , trumps. We had a array of platters, from raw fish to succulents such as chicken and seafood . The service was excellent and the food superb.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here for Yelp's Breakfast Club! I'm a firm believer that sushi is not a breakfast food, but I surprised myself by happily inhaling a Bento Box of delicious Japanese delights for Sunday brunch with fellow Yelpers. One thing I'd change was ordering the Macha Green Tea latte it looked disgusting but actually didn't taste awful. I'd probably stick with ordering a coffee or a non latte green tea next time. Everything here was fresh and delicious and I'd love to come back soon, perhaps for lunch.
