It is fully enclosed and packed with toys, due to this the cafe is a hot spot for the parents. Keep in mind you should book a table if you are dining here to enjoy the play area (and want to be able to see the kids) as these seats in high demand and limited. I've eaten here twice, the first time I had the pulled pork po boy. It was not really enjoyable, it was soggy and the bun was a cheap hot dog bun that ended up as a squishy mess. It really needed some more freshness and a better quality bun. On my second visit I ordered the nourish bowl - pretty much the opposite meal of my previous visit. The bowl was really delicious, filling, nutritious and so fresh. I really enjoyed this one. The staff are friendly and helpful, i'd come back for another nourish bowl and coffee.
What happened to the play area? Once quite a nice big area to play in, it's been halved in size to fit in two extra tables that just block the way into the play area. Coffee and pastry was just average so not even worth going to for the food.
I adore Chapter IV menu - it's creative and a little bit different to usual brunch fare. Tables out front are small but dog friendly. It seems child friendly as well so can be quite noisy so not recommended for a romantic brunch. Service always quick and food always good
This place serves one of the most innovative, unique and delicious brunch I've had in Brisbane so far. Forget your run of the mill eggs benny, this place does theirs with soft shell crab. Their mushroom ravioli with cream sauce and truffle oil is just delectable. And don't forget about their corn and quinoa fritters with beetroot hummus. I'll definitely come back again to try some of their other items.
Before I talk about the food here, I feel like I should mention two things about the suburb. Firstly, Paddington Bear is not even from here, so, you know, there's that. Secondly, the entire suburb is one giant Inception-esque labyrinth of hills, so no matter where you go, your calves will look amazing afterwards. But should you manage to be able to handle those two facts, you could do worse than trying out this place. The menu is definitely diverse, and I can see some Asian influences on your standard breakfast items. The price isn't bad at all, and I managed to get two people sufficiently stuffed full for under $50. I'm not sure what the fancy description of ambience should be, but it was genuinely lovely. Try and get a seat outside if you can, the views of Brisbane and surrounded nestled suburbs are strangely relaxing. The food itself is done well. It's just different enough from your standard brunch fare to be interesting, but not so different you need to silently pray when it gets to the table. The coffee is done well too, and the service is that good balance between kind, polite and attentive, without being too overbearing. At the end of the day, Brisbane is flourishing with cheeky little brunch spots, and this should definitely be one of the places to tick off your list. TL/DR: Good brunch spot with menu items you don't see everywhere. Complete lack of Bears wearing trench coats eating marmalade.
