After sitting for 15 minutes at a table, no one even acknowledging us, I asked the manager for a server. 8 minutes later someone came to take our drink order. 15 minutes later we got our drinks. When we asked to order food, they had to get another server who took another 15 minutes. We've now been here over an hour and haven't ordered food. When the waitress came to get our food order, they were out of the filet, the chicken and every other non-fish option. My husband ordered the Lobster, they were out. The waitress said they only had burgers and salads. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment!!
Took my wife here for Mother's Day. Big disappointment! She's allergic to fish, the only options were burgers and salads. I ordered Lobster... they were out. Took over 45 minutes before we could even order drinks. It was awful! Had to leave to get dinner elsewhere. Would not recommend. Daisy who ended up becoming our server was very kind and sweet. Everything else was horrible!
I 'm giving a projected rating of 4 stars. My first visit experience earned a strong 3, which is pretty much my benchmark for comfortable dive bar with a cool vibe (although a $5 bud bottle is arguably steep for a dive bar in this locale). Very much a local hangout. But the epic sound track and the fact that they have a great raw bar happy hour during the week makes it a virtual slam dunk that I will be back to experience its greater glory.
Very mixed feelings about this place. It had really great reviews, and some of the reviews are justified. One thing I wish I read more is about the lack of a waitlist. It's not first come first serve. It's whoever gets a table gets served. I've never experienced a restaurant where customers had to wait behind tables or seats after other customers. It's like I'm competing for a particular seat with every other particular customer and it all depends on how quickly the people before me eat. If another table opens up, it may not be mine because I wasn't waiting for that table. I feel like it would be relatively easy to set up even an self check-in system to create a waitlist and ease the mind of a lot of customers. Either way, food was good, but this place is understaffed. I was waiting for a table for 45 minutes, and I talked with people waiting on their checks for 30 min or their food for even longer (if it's not raw). Affordable oysters, huge clams and good toasted food too, but again, it sounds like there are only 1 or 2 people in the kitchen because the raw and cooked food came close to 45 min apart. There's either 1 or 0 bartender at the bar, so getting drinks is also very challenging. I feel for a restaurant that's understaffed, but this dining experience could have been much better.
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally got there today. The menu was filled with choices I wanted so I guess that means I will have to go back! I absolutely loved their award winning New England clam chowder. It was creamy and chock full of fresh clams. Another crowd favorite was the unique choice- fried avocado. I didn't expect it to be as fantastic as it was. I was intrigued by the Lobster Pasta dish- although I wish I would have ordered something lighter since I was already full with the apps, it was amazing. Thankfully I took half home. It had tons of lobster in a sherry cream sauce with rotini. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. Strange choice in my opinion (for a seafood spot) but he liked it. Next time I will be ordering the lobster roll. I saw it come out to another table and it looked insanely good. Check out @datenightcraves on Instagram for more foodie tips !
