Chocolats et chimers - Briare

The Rye Hotel reminds me of a cafeteria type pubWe stopped for dinner here on our way down to Portsea on the weekend.

You have to visit this chocolate shop and dive into the chocolate glasses filled with ice-cream. Eat the ice-cream eat the glass, Then take a look in the shop where you can buy a pair of tiny chocolate flip-flops. For a more macabre delight, how about a chocolate scupture of a surgeon operating on a patient!!! And there's much much more. The food's good too by the way.

What a lovely place to stop and enjoy a large selection of teas, coffee, home made cakes and the best selection of chocolates ever. All this just by the beautiful canal bridge in Briare. the ice creams are served in a real chocolate cone and makes you wish that it is warm enough to eat them all year round. There is also agreat selection of cool drinks and you can sit on the terrase watching the boats and pedestrians meander by. You can buy chocolate and cakes and macarons, which are beautifully wrapped, to take home. This is a must if you visit Briare.

This lovely building houses delicious chocolates and gateaux. It's the perfect place to sit and watch people walking over the Pont Canal or doing the same by boat. It can get very busy but we managed to have the terrace to ourselves one morning to enjoy a delicious cake and coffee
