I had the worst dining experience of my life at this restaurant. As a strong supporter of black-owned businesses, I typically wouldn’t write a negative review, but I feel it's important to share my experience to raise awareness. From the moment I stepped in, the owner displayed a rude and disrespectful attitude. Initially, I thought she might just be having a rough day, so I tried to overlook it. However, things took a turn when she brought my food to the table and instructed me to come wash my hands. She treated me like a child and said, “OGA, come wash your hands here.” When I inquired if there was a sink nearby (as I noticed a table that looked like one), she angrily responded, "What is wrong with you? Are you going to teach me my business? I’ve been in this country for 12 years!" It’s worth mentioning that she wanted me to wash my hands behind her sales counter, which made me uncomfortable. Typically, restaurants have handwashing facilities either in the restroom or in a customer-accessible area. I did not feel comfortable washing my hands in such a restricted space. Instead of understanding, she insulted me and lectured me on Nigerian food, which I’ve enjoyed for 28 years. After she aggressively placed my food on the table, telling me, “Oga, sit down and eat your food, make you dey go,” I lost my patience. Following a heated argument, she called the police on me. I decided to wait for them since I’m in Canada, where calling the police to intimidate others isn’t the norm. When the police arrived, she explained her version of events to a young officer, who asked her, "Is this why you called us here?" She confirmed it. The officer, after hearing her, asked what she wanted them to do about me, to which she replied, “Let him go.” He then took me outside for a private chat and mentioned he could see how unethical and rude she was based on how she described the situation. He advised me that the best course of action would be to refrain from giving her any more business and to leave a review. In conclusion, I urge you to avoid this restaurant at all costs if you value your money!
The taste was good, but unfortunately, my kids, who love Jollof rice, couldn't eat it. They kept asking me if I was sure it was Nigerian Jollof.
Their Chin Chins are SO GOOD and SO ADDICTING! Highly recommend you try them!
This had to be the worst service I have ever received from an African company; Me aswell being African. The lady insulted me in her language ans if I didn’t understand and I have yet to receive my refund due to “miscommunication”. Please save your money!
