I feel rather then making stuff at home in a place that I...would assume was not inspected by Peel the chef should have spent more time and focus on items that were on the menu. Lets begin with the extened wait for the meals. The wait was over 30 min which was a long time but would not have been so bad if the food was not terrible and too many mistakes. While waiting we ordered beverage. The coffee taste was fsir but what ruined it was so many coffee grains you can see some of them in the photo. About 5 or so of our table ordered the chicken parm and pasta. When it came and I have no idea how someone that is a chef would not notice that they were missing the pasta and one plate had vegetables instead. I had the chicken club. It was dry lacked flavour and the white cheddar that it was suppose to have was missing. It came with dried out fries that were for sure frozen and stale. You would think a place like this would be fresh especially with the priceThe Chicken Supreme was also ordered and let me say it was terrible and a rip off at 25.00. It was describe as a pan seared chicken which we though wasba breast in a wild mushroom sauce. It was a leg the cheapest part of the chicken and as for mushrooms there was four slices what a joke. It was served with vegs and potatoe of the day. The vegs were very close to raw and the potato was sliced and burnt as you can see in tne picture. There was also a bison or some type of chop but we were told only one left as they had been closed for a a bit and were low on stock which would inducated tjis was a fizen chop and the food from here was defrosted. The children threre ordered the kids pizza and ice cream. The chef made the adult pizza for each kid which was a mistake and wasteful. The ice cream was suppose to come with sprinkles but came one scoop in bowl with nothing else. A bit disappointing to the kids. No beverages were topped up. There was water on the table that was put into glass bottles to look fancy but was just tap water and not even filtered. A terrible over priced place.
The food was amazing and the service was top-notch. Sitting by the fireplace for dinner was the ideal setting to savor our meal on a chilly evening. I highly recommend this restaurant!
We have eaten here a number of times over the years since the place opened and while we are not frequent visitors we always could depend on a certain level of food, ambiance and cleanliness. It was a nice place to go for a decent...meal. I should have known something was up when I called at 6 pm for a reservation and was told to just come over...they weren't busy. At 6:30 pm when we entered the restaurant, we were the only people there. A few others were outside on the patio having a beer but we wanted a dinner inside. The woman who greeted us said to sit wherever we wanted and then finally brought us to a corner table which would have been fine except it was not clean, the floor beneath was not clean and the low sidebar beside the table was so messy as to be a real turnoff. We elected to change tables to one not quite so nice in location but at least it was not quite as dirty. We sat waiting for a server for at least 10 minutes before a polite young man came along. We placed our orders and then waited some more for them to come. The server didn't ask us if we wanted appetizers or a salad...just ..what did we want to drink. The food was tasty. We both ordered penne polo and the sauce was very good. Penne can be indelicate and we both felt there was a lot more of it than there was of chicken. We had to flag down the server to get the bill, mentioned the state of lack of cleanliness of the places we had started and he apologized...but it was not his job to do the cleaning. Judging from the state of other tables, neither was it the job of anyone else! We both expressed disappointment to this chap....it was pretty well a pub like atmosphere rather than the nice restaurant that it used to be. The only eating seemed to be done by golfers who were enjoying typical munchies as opposed to full meals. That is fine but we remember a far more upscale dining facility than this has become and we gather the change has happened because of a change in ownership. We agreed that we would not be returning...there are many restaurants in the area.
This restaurant used to be great, but now it's overpriced. Charging $15.95 for a kids' chicken meal is excessive for what they offer.
Was not quite that to expect. our friends were, but not we hubby i . now, let's put it on this wise: can't wait to go back! busy on Sunday afternoon afternoon of a summer day, and our lovely server, elizabeth made the experience. even more ingenious! never the 6 commands written down, but they put them in order, quite amazing when they ask me! she also remembered that it was our 91-year-old friend birthday and surprised us all with sweet and delicious dessert place to add the celebration! thanks elizabeth! much appreciated!
