The chicken was tender and tasty. The salad was fresh in a generous plate of cottage cheese. I had a good lunch! The reds of us agreed that this is a better choice than the other Mediterranean restaurants in the area.I highly recommend this place, check it out! TripAdvisor recognized this place as "Excellent" in 2013.
My husband and I came here for dinner because I was craving for a good deep-fried calamari. We used to come here quite a bit and knew that the food was always gonna be good, but was dissatisfied this time around. No wonder it was dead for a Friday dinner unlike before. When we walked in we were greeted by the nice and friendly owner. Then as we sat down I could smell that the vents are not being washed daily or regularly (I used to work as a cook before). The restaurant smell like stale grease and that's when we realized that the owner is different. I used the washroom and it was dirty. I ordered the calamari and my husband got the chicken souvlaki. And 'oh boy weren't we surprised after we got them. The calamari are the big ring ones that you can get frozen cheap at any grocery store unlike the "Greek calamari" (smaller and more flavorful)--- the batter used was very salty and it was soggy not crispy at all! Let me compare it to how it used to be--- lemony flavor with "real Mediterranean spices" with perfect crisps and nice and tender to bite. I got it with Greek salad--the usual ingredients but was again shocked that the dressing was reddish? Obviously not what is supposed to be! Where is the lemon, garlic, olive oil and oregano???? The pita bread that we got was nice and warm but then again it came with tsatziki that was runny and missing with "Greek flavor"! My husband's chicken souvlaki plate was not so bad, the chicken tenderloin was cooked well, but then again where is the flavor? Before it was big chunks of chicken breast that was well marinated, seasoned and grilled to perfection, ***not anymore! And the rice that came with our dinner plates was soggy and the potatoes were also bland! My calamari was almost $24 and my husband's souvlaki was almost $16 so it was a total of $45 plus tips! We don't mind paying,if we enjoy our meal, but for that quality I don't think we will ever go back! We are sad that a used to be "so good" restaurant turned into this. The empty tables are a good sign that the food and the ambiance has gone down. It is now a totally different restaurant with the same name....:(:(:(
I have visited this restaurant twice and both times the food was excellent. The decor is simple, but the service and food are delightful. The portion sizes are generous, giving you good value for your money. I was pleasantly surprised by the extra amount of potatoes in my dish compared to other restaurants. However, there were a few drawbacks such as too much salad dressing on the Greek salad and not enough chicken in the Mosaic Chicken Classic dish. We also ordered a takeout Chicken Souvlaki with french fries and found them to be overly salted. Despite these minor issues, I would definitely return to this restaurant.
The less than impressive dining area belies the delicious food. If you want a fabulous dinner, try the takeout, as the seating is very limited. The prices seem high relative to the establishment, but the taste makes up for it. It is hidden away in a small plaza, so Google directions before heading out!
I specified do Not put meat on salad but my request was Ignored! rendering the taboli not edible for the vegetarian in the family not to mention wilted parsley and dry tough steak not skewered but 1 hunk. The absolute worst excuse for eggplant parmesan ever $18 for 3 small undercooked pieces of eggplant on a bed of tasteless spiral pasta does not constitute being eggplant parmesan an absolute rip off! This chef should do his customers a big favor and get out of the food business ! Flavorless bland and IL-prepared take heed and spend your dollars any were else $97 for maybe $25 worth of food a zero out of ten. The driver was polite and timely the food not worth waiting for One hugely disappointed non returning Paton!
