Yami Korean Japanese - Boynton Beach

For our starters, we ordered shumai (steamed shrimp dumplings) and the YAMI garden salad. Unfortunately, both were just mediocre. For our main courses, we chose the hot stone vegetable bibimbap and YAMI fried rice. The bibimbap was overcooked, with the vegetables and rice burnt from contact with the hot stone, while the fried rice was completely devoid of flavor. Based solely on this visit, we were not impressed at all. Perhaps the rest of their menu, especially the barbecue options, might be more appealing.

I really enjoyed the pork belly and chicken at this restaurant. They offer a wide variety of options on their flat-top grill. During my visit, I tried the pork belly and the spicy chicken, and I found the spicy chicken to be flavorful and downright delicious, although it wasn't very spicy at all. The side of kimchi definitely added some kick! If you’re accustomed to truly spicy dishes, you might find the chicken lacking in heat, but the overall flavor makes up for it. The pork belly was fantastic as well, and I appreciated the extra sauces served with it. I also ordered a bowl of soon tofu soup with beef, which had a wonderful spice to it and complemented the rest of the meal nicely. The service was decent, although we had a few different servers throughout our dining experience. The restaurant features a full bar with classic drinks like Terra and has plenty of seating available, along with a large projector playing K-pop on one wall.

We went to celebrate my friend's birthday, and Simon was our server. Everything was exceptional. We ordered a combo and pork belly, along with some drinks, and everything tasted amazing. It was my first time trying kimchi, and I was genuinely impressed. I also mistakenly left my card inside, but a wonderful woman at the front brought it out to my friends for me! I will definitely be coming back! Food: 5/5

I was rather disappointed with my experience at the restaurant. None of the side dishes were appealing, and surprisingly, the best part of the meal was our substitute server. I'm not sure why we had a different server, but I was grateful for the change. I wish I could remember his name for this review—he was very attentive and knowledgeable. We had looked forward to cooking our own meat, which was a big reason for choosing this restaurant, but the server(s) ended up taking care of that for us instead. Overall, I found the food to be lacking in flavor and not worth the price we paid.

I had an amazing experience! The food was exceptional, and our server was extremely attentive. She provided detailed explanations and took excellent care of us. Overall, I would rate the food a perfect 5 out of 5!
