Bowen Island Pub - Bowen Island Canada

To start, I ordered the Purple Rain cocktail ($11), while my friend went for the Snug Cove lager ($6). The Purple Rain was delightfully light, refreshing, and easy to sip. My friend was also pleased with his lager. For our appetizer, we shared the Avocado Smash ($16), which was essentially guacamole and chips. As a picky eater who dislikes raw onions and cilantro, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the guacamole was served with all the toppings on the side rather than mixed in. This made it easy for me to enjoy just the guacamole while leaving the rest for my friend. I think more restaurants should serve guac this way! For my main course, I chose the English supper ($24) from the specials menu. It featured roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, and roasted vegetables. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was again pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. The beef was tender and paired well with the gravy and Yorkshire pudding, and the portions were generous. Even after a long hike, I couldn't finish the huge plate and had to take a third of it home for leftovers. My friend ordered a small veggie pizza ($16) and enjoyed it too. To our surprise, the small pizza was quite large; he was full after just half, so a small pizza is definitely good for sharing between two people, especially if you order an appetizer. We relaxed with another round of drinks—Black Lemonade and Whistler Honey Lager—until it was almost time to catch our ferry. It was a nice way to pass the time!

I'm really grateful that this pub is on the island. There's not much other good food around, at least not that I know of. The atmosphere here is great!

Be sure to double-check your bill! The food was excellent and the service was good, but we encountered a problem with an automatic tip that had already been included. As a result, we ended up tipping twice. Additionally, the bill listed a separate charge for alcohol that was over $13 more than what we expected, adding to the confusion since this was in addition to the drink charges.

The food was fantastic and the staff were amazing. We visited both nights during our stay and were thoroughly impressed. We will definitely return!

The food at this restaurant is incredibly affordable and definitely worth the price. The portion sizes are generous as well. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and, most importantly, understanding when it comes to ferry schedules. What I appreciate the most is that they go above and beyond to provide a great experience. It's one of my favorite restaurants, and I can't wait to return. If you're reading this, I highly recommend giving it a try!
