We have not been back for some months having being underwhelmed the last time. Some of our guests, having been unable to get into places we have recommend , ended up here.Their reports at breakfast the next day were... interesting.
My local Bourges friend and I had dinner at OH Rest'o last night. I don't remember the name of the entrée item I'd ordered, but it was a sort of large wonton with goat cheese and basil on a frisée salad: fantastic. For the main course I had the poisson du jour atop a very nice tomatoless ratatouille, and my friend had the boeuf tartare. We shared a cafe gourmand - little tastes of five or six desserts including a creme brulee, a pot de creme, a lovely thick, rich chocolate gateau, a lacework cookie, various fruits . . . The owner served us and he was the soul of charm. I highly recommend OHRest'o if you want a delicious meal in Bourges that won't cost you un bras et une jambe.
Innovative menu. Freshly cooked. We tried the rabbit lasagne ( well loin of rabbit with lasagne instead of pastry) delicious as was the ravioli & the cheese plate to follow. The sea food salad looked delicious & the steak tartare was very popular. Go
A girlfriend and I had the rabbit with lasagne and creamy cheese sauce-light, and perfectly cooked. Service was prompt and very warm. We had generous glasses of white fruity regional Reuilly wine with our meal and a lovely fresh basked of tasty bread with our meal. People were photographing their plates! The desert was a creamy and zingy lemon mouse with raspberry coulis and nicely crisp and caramelized biscuit to dip in it. Left slightly half cut with wine. Good portions of the right size. A total find. Lovely ambiance. I am definitely revisiting. Excellent value as all in around 62 euros for two of us, and for the quality this is superb value. A total delight, a darn good restaurant! I hope the menu varies during the year as I want to return for further gastronomic treats!
On a summer night we dined at OH Rest'O - in Bourges' restaurant row, rue Bourbonnoux - having failed to get a table at several of Trip Advisor's most highly-rated venues. We got one of the few tables on the pavement outside the restaurant, luckily in the shade, and enjoyed an excellent, well-priced dinner. The menu offered a choice of starters and the plat du jour, and we struck lucky. The main course, a fresh cabillaud, was generous and very well cooked. We were so pleased with our first two courses that we stayed for the cafe gourmand, which was nicely varied and included fruit as well as sweets. Rest'O also offered reasonably priced pichers of house wine. I think this restaurant is among the top half dozen in Bourges; next time we may just book it and forget about several of its more expensive rivals.
