However, I was pleasantly surprised to find sweet plantain in the burrito, which added a delicious flavor. I paid extra for guacamole but felt that there was not enough added to justify the additional charge. Despite this, the burrito was still delicious with fresh ingredients. I would definitely order it again, especially with the sweet plantain.
The new ownership of Teresa Market has been a disappointment. Previously known for its dedication to quality food under the former head chef, the restaurant's new owners have focused on redecorating the interior but have neglected the food quality and attention to detail. They should consider hiring a more experienced chef who would never resort to microwaving chips with cheese to make "nachos." It seems they have forgotten how to utilize the oven that is still available. The chips are consistently stale now, and the portion size of guacamole has been reduced while the prices have increased. Despite giving the new owners multiple chances, the ongoing mistakes need to be addressed before I consider returning. The high prices are not justified by the lack of care put into the food. I simply desire the food to return to its previous quality.
The food at this restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced, surpassing most high-end taquerias that serve mediocre Mexican cuisine. While the interior and service are nothing extraordinary, the real standout is the delicious food.
I’ve been eating at this place for the past 4 yrs and it’s always been a great deal. My favorite items from the menu are the special dinner, shrimp burrito, and the pupusas. However, as of 4/24/24, the prices have been slightly raised and most critically my all time fave shrimp burrito has been made way worse. They took out the agave sauce and the fried peppers, and replaced it with sour cream. The amount of shrimp is also less (they chop it up and add it now). It’s still good, but it’s just a regular burrito now as opposed to a great burrito. Just a nitpick, but I don’t know if they’ve changed management or something recently but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re a regular!
The last month has improved noticeably. Delicious dishes.
