Contessa - Boston

I hosted a dinner yesterday for some friends of mine that were visiting from other places around the world. Since I came to Boston everyone was recommending to go to Contessa so I tried it. I book a reservation for 6 parties, we all go there, start to eat and midway through our dinner 2 more friends join us for drinks. I kindly ask our servers who were super polite and nice to bring a chair and they ask permission from the manager (Lizzie). Then the manger comes with a very disrespectful tone and says that our friends are not allowed to stay in the table and not even sit at a table next to us and threatens us to call the security if they don't leave. I don't really understand why it was such a big deal. I know that there are certain rules that are followed by the restaurant but it was literally empty and they could have accommodated our needs. I am totally disappointed from that experience and I will not go again. Someone needs to explain to ms Lizzie that restaurants are places that people are supposed to have fun and not argue with their customers.

Absolutely lives up to the hype. The food, service and ambience were all top notch.

We came for dinner to bring in friends from out of town. It was their first time in Boston and we had a very poor experience with their manager Lizzie. Their staff was good and so was their food. However we spoken to in a very disrespectful matter. We had two friends joining us, but they refused for them to allow to be with us. This was truly a disappointing experience, and we really expected more from a restaurant which is meant to hold themselves to a higher caliber. However, I must say the scenario was sincerely exaggerated by their manager Lizzie, truly disappointed from their tone of her voice and how we were treated.

The food was good. The service was shockingly bad. I was constantly having to ask other staff members to get our waitress. You would think after one time they would have got the point but nothing changed. It was really bad service. The vibe is the place is awesome though.
