Basho - Boston

I've never had broccoli, napa cabbage, or bean sprouts in my ramen before. If you're looking for good ramen, I recommend going elsewhere, like Santouka. However, the rolls are quite decent.

This restaurant has been around for a while, and I can't believe it took me so long to finally visit. Basho is a solid fusion Japanese restaurant. I tried the spicy miso udon noodle soup, which was good if you're a fan of miso, but when I ordered beef, they simply added some chopped pieces, which was rather average. The pork USA dish was tasty, and the spicy tuna maki roll was enjoyable as well. I ordered two servings of uni, which were nice, but I wasn’t impressed with the quality of the rice. The tempura ice cream was quite average; it was a bit soggy and lacked enough ice cream. The mochi ice cream was just okay too. The service was decent, but it seemed like a child was managing larger parties. I also tried the sirloin beef, which was really good. I'd consider coming back to sample other items on the menu, but my initial impression was just okay.

Fantastic location! The food is excellent, and the service is wonderful. It's within walking distance of Fenway Park. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Great food right next to fenway. Great service. Lots of selections. I went with the tasty roll. We also had edamame and the Tuna tempura mango salsa. The Phoenix roll was excellent as well. They have a great selection of drinks. I saw that they had a Japanese whiskey on tap. I need to come back and try that. We ended our culinary journey with banana Nutella gyoza. Just wow. It was served warm and the Nutella with banana tasted amazing.

I've been to Basho Japanese Brasserie twice once with family and once with friends. The cocktails were a hit or miss. I don't recommend the Fen Zu. It tasted like cleaning solution. Whenever I go to Basho Japanese Brasserie, I stick with Hot Green Tea. The food and service were always good. Some of our favorite appetizers are Pork Belly Steamed Bun, Shishito Peppers, Agedashi Tofu, and Robata items (e.g., Negi Chicken, Chicken Thighs, Kobe Sliders, Eel). Some of our favorite rolls are 1338 Roll, Summer Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll. Some of our favorite dinner entrees included their Maki and Nigiri Platter, Sashimi Dinner, Miso Yaki Dinner, and Pork Ramen. Our favorite dessert is the Banana Tempura.
