Golden Gate - Bortigiadas

Sunday afternoon. the restaurant is full. large tables. large families. loud and happy people. as it should be. we get a table for 2. correct reception, very good waiter. compliments for his service. around us are large plates of almost everything. we take two antipasti of fishing. good, but not especially. when we order fresh fish. we choose, sit and wait. drink an excellent wine. as said excellent service. the fish is cleaned in the table. leaves us with a middle part a person. That's good, we ate happy. drink a coffee with a digestion. the coffee is on the house. Unfortunately the fresh fish is not. 54 euro is much for a little grilled fish. we end up with a bill of almost 120 euro. too much of my opinion.

Unbelievable Experience; we had hired private tour guide Anna Maria (Sardegna Bella e Buono) and after morning of hiking, and visiting Tempio village; she had scheduled lunch at Golden Gate (she said she knew the chef, he was one of the best in all of...Sardinia). This restaurant seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, and I questioned how a successful restaurant could be located so far in a rural area; but the answer is obvious that it is so good that it is a destination restaurant to go to, even for locals. We had classic Sardinia multi-course lunch; but the courses were obscene; so many different courses kept coming to our table... First was the most delicious tuna tar tar I have ever had... than many follow ups of seafood specialties; a 2nd course was full of oysters and various shrimps prawns; there was a chef specialty smoked mozzarella; and many seafood (calamari shrimp) salads; a main course of local fish done perfectly. The restaurant's own olive oil was a specialty too. The chef made several personal appearances at our table, to make sure everything was perfect. Everything was over the top but in a casual atmosphere (one would expect this type of experience at a 5-star big city restaurant). Can recommend as one of the best eating experiences ever; a hidden gem if you can find it! It is worth the drive (even if a couple of hours) to find this restaurant. For sure, put it on your Sardinia itinerary; learn from us (and our private tour guide's local knowledge).

Wonderful place surrounded by greenery, right at the beginning of the road the impeccable service and fast smoke, very fresh food and exquisite, in short, a guarantee!

I was there for three weddings and I was always found by god, all fresh and delicious. 5 position.
