Highly recommend! I can't wait to return when the rooftop bar is open (it was closed for winter/snow . Regardless the hotel was charming and cozy, our room was so beautiful comfortable. It really is the little things that made our stay so wonderful, such as chamomile tea aromatherapy before bed, espresso and muffins in the morning, old fashioned in the lounge downstairs, the historic photos in the hallway, walking distance to shops and restaurants (started snowing on our walk to breakfast..how romantic! . I can't express how thankful we are of the friendly staff and how hard they work to make sure we were taken care of. Absolutely worth it!
One of the best hotel experiences. As an App Alumni, I know that King St is the PERFECT location for making the most of your trip to Boone. Horton Hotel is not only located in downtown Boone (within walking distance of plenty of restaurants, as well as campus, for those who want to relive the good ole days), but also beautiful rooms with great service and a cocktail lounge. Don't hesitate and book now.
The front desk and bar staff were great. Our suite was very nice, comfortable and nicely finished/decorated. The bed and bedding were very comfortable. We enjoyed a cocktail on the rooftop by the fire pit. Walking distance to shopping, dining, and drinking!
Not worth the price- the hotel concept is a fun idea but they fall short with the rooms. We paid a pretty high premium to stay in a room with zero windows (not advertised that way) directly under the bar area. The walls are so thin we could barely sleep with the movement above us at night and then again bright and early in the morning. Fresh water and chocolates advertised on the website were just some Hershey kisses and some flavored water in the lobby. Being right next door to a place that sells delicious local chocolates, you would think the hotel would put a little more thought and effort into that part. The rooms advertised on their website must be their better rooms- a ‘bottom level room’ should be advertised as windowless and very noisy- definitely not worth a few hundred bucks a night and we would not have booked had we known. Although, looking at some of the other reviews I think others also have had the same experience. I will say the lounge was nice and the drinks were great so the next time we are back we will stay somewhere else and just visit the lounge. Lots of other great options to stay around Boone- this was a huge disappointment.
