Delicious and secret. I stopped at Papa Bob on my way to the country with my TV Food Maps app on my droid. So glad I stopped! I had the burning sandwich with one side of baked beans. The burned ends were phenomenal and the beans were great. They have a variety of sauces, I used the hot and the Habanero that had a pretty bite, but still a sweet taste. The staff was super friendly, I had conversations with pretty everyone in the restaurant including Bob himself, who entertained about 5 minutes with me about my trip. My only suggestion is to use some better bread... maybe Texas toast or something, the simple old burger beans was a small Blande for such big BBQ.
The meat is AMAZING, my mom hates this place for some reason. It has a nice country style to it. The service is awesome sauce!
Awesome food, great pickles!. Found the place through MvF on the Travel Channel, and decided to stop by on our way through KC on vacation, and so glad we did. I wussed out on the Destroyer, but their smoked ham and burnt ends were fantastic! Their baked beans just have to be experienced, as well. Even the catfish was great. When you go, try the horseradish pickles! Absolutely awesome. I'd go back in a minute. Not a huge fan of their sauces, but their meats don't really need them.
I've been on my way after the opening and it's by far my favorite BBQ in KC. Every time the food is fresh from the kitchen, the staff is super friendly and helpful. The Bobenero sauce is by far the best sauce, but they will be happy to go through the sauces to find a favorite. I've tried the ultimate destroyer several times, and while it's a funny novelty, you'd be better with something else from the menu, it just ends to treat too much, even divided into a group. They may be quite far away, but it is definitely worth it.
