I called the alexandra while I worked in the opposite when I noticed it was a free house. the greeting from the renter was warm and friendly and the selection of the hand train-Ales was good. I had a great pint of wainwright. The...Pub wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed visiting.
Been today my husband had braised beef in guiness it was beautiful.. I had a starter mushroom with cream and stilton that was lovely followed by minted lamb which was beautiful...big portions value fir money will deffinatly be going back
Food not too bad and close to home. A very varied menu and seems popular. Hubby and daughter had a burger which was not very good, seemed on the cheap side and the chips were soggy. I had chicken skewers with rice and salad which...was good
We were due to stay at the Alexandra for two nights but actually only managed the one night. The room we stayed in was grim there was a wet patch next to the bed which resulted in the room having a damp feel. The...bed covers didn't seem clean, the mugs had coffee stains and bathroom was very mouldy. All in all not a pleasant experience. I know that you get what you pay for, but we have stayed in nicer hostels and have had better facilities on campsites for the same price than we paid at the Alexandra.
