Cates Italian Garden - BOLTON LANDING

We 've always wanted to try this place on our summer vacations, and tonight was the night. We came with a party of 11 and everyone loved their meals. The lasagna was especially good, as was the pasta with vodka sauce. The cod special was also outstanding. Not much else to say, just a really solid dining experience. We 'll definitely be adding Cate 's to our list of go to places in the Lake George area.

Walking through Bolton Landing, we were drawn in by the cozy entrance, tented with fireplaces. The decor inside here is beautiful! I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs while my parents both ordered the lasagna as it was described as buddy 's special recipe. My mother felt like they overdid it with the basil and my dad even commented that the food tasted like they were just getting rid of what they had for the season. My mom was later very sick that night. My spaghetti and meatballs seemed decent until I almost chipped my teeth on what seemed like pieces of bone. The hostess was nice and welcoming and so was our main waitress. Other staff that dropped off our check or napkins, threw it on our table and said here you go without even stopping as they walked by. I want to note we are in the off season for this area and the restaurant was not busy on a Sunday night. I would rather try another restaurant on this road next time I 'm in the area.

Cates has been the favorite since 1995. Things have changed since then but no complaints. The pizza and food is worth the wait or any minor inconveniences that come with busy tourist season. Leave some time, sit back and enjoy yourself and what they have to offer.

My food came out 15 minutes later than the rest of my groups and there was no apology or acknowledgement from the waiter for the delay. The portion sizes of the different entrees varied widely a Caesar salad was quite small, my chicken piccata was medium size, and the chicken parm was huge. All food was acceptable tasting but not delicious or special by any means

Best joint around. Very friendly to all. The owners could not be nicer. Happy they welcome everyone
