Disaster! Had a room in the lower tower. Beginning of June when it was 65 outside but the elevator, hall and room were 80. Management was unable to resolve issue even after 4 attempt to contact them. Carpets in hall taped with duct tape all up and down. Restaurant closed. Food available for purchase. Pet friendly but when asked if the cat could get under the bed, the desk person said NO and within 2 minutes the cat got under the bed and it took time to get her out. Left after second day of high temperatures. They did refund me what I paid but a big inconvenience
For the price we paid, our room was decent, clean, and adequate. The hotel seemed like it was beautifully maintained twenty years ago, but it appears that updates have been neglected since then (we noticed patched carpets in the hallways, the restaurant was closed, all the hand sanitizer dispensers were empty, and we didn't receive any service from the staff). Overall, it felt rather understated. However, if you're looking for a clean place to sleep and shower, this hotel meets those needs. The staff was very friendly and professional, and it’s just a short walk to the city and the BSU campus.
Aside from the lobby, the overall appearance of the place is quite poor. The hallway carpets are patched up, stained, and look worn. The pool water was dirty, and the first two floors seemed to be occupied by long-term residents, which wasn't mentioned in any advertising. There were also many sketchy individuals walking around. In our room, we found blood splatters in the bathroom, on the TV, and on the wall behind the television! However, the receptionist was fantastic; she promptly arranged a new room for us. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
We also noticed several individuals aimlessly wandering around the property. After checking in, we discovered that a significant portion of the building was being used to house homeless individuals, a detail that should have been disclosed beforehand. If I were on vacation with my family, I'd prefer not to stay in a facility that resembles a homeless shelter, especially at $200 per night. Additionally, there were numerous unacceptable issues with the property: the air conditioning in our room and throughout the building was inadequate. Various shoddy repairs were evident in several areas, and there were broken ice makers, with signs indicating they've been out of order for some time. The bathroom fan didn't work, and the carpet throughout the building was in terrible condition, with duct tape holding it together in over 45 places on just the third floor alone (I stopped counting at 45 repairs). Trash was overflowing from three waste bins in the lobby, and after a restless night in a stuffy room, we saw a sign saying the pool was closed for maintenance. The only positives we found were the friendly staff, which sadly isn't enough to save this place. We originally booked for three nights but left after one and found much better accommodations nearby. It was clear that there was little to no pride in maintaining the property, and it felt as if management simply didn’t care. Bottom line: this place is a dump, and if you're looking for a comfortable stay, avoid it at all costs.
