I find this on the homepage of the house, after my first visit to the Waldhorn, although I felt at least a hundred times past the building in the last few decades, and I also often wondered whether the inn has (still) open at all. It is situated in the middle of the main and through road of the Böblinger district Dagersheim, but always makes a somewhat closed, remote impression. Since the hotel business dominates, the external impression is that the hotel is only open to overnight guests. Don't. However, the restaurant has only opened in the evening and closed on Saturdays. For a well-maintained lunch you can only relax on Sundays – and this is best with a table reservation, because in the house you will be happy to arrange family festivals. My visit is also based on a late birthday invitation, and not on a large scale, but only tête-à-tête. Parking is sufficient at the house, the entrance to the restaurant takes place via a few steps and is therefore unfortunately not accessible. When you enter the first Aha experience: the rather sober outside view does not almost reveal the well-maintained ambience: fine interior, stylish guest rooms, selected materials, harmonious coloration, tasteful dishes and glasses, retaining decoration. The greeting is extremely warm by the Theurer host family, who has been operating on site in the xth generation since 1939. As we arrive in the past (our wish for a reservation for 12:30 a.m. was carefully corrected when calling – 12:00 a.m. seemed to fit better into the processes), we can choose between some potentially available tables. Although the adjoining room is already occupied with a family celebration, we sit there very pleasant, very comfortable and amazingly quiet. This is due, among other things, to the fact that there is no unwilling musical sound here. Great praise for it! Mr Theurer serves and advises charming, discreet, very withdrawn. We choose mineral water and a fruity Riesling, along with the cheese parrots from the standard card and table spit from the current special card, which is built in the form of a large slate table in front of us. The dishes are a poem: the egg-spetches are made according to traditional family recipe and pressed by hand (so they unfortunately act somewhat uniform), the table-spitz butterzart and on the tongue-destroying, dressed on abundant (maybe somewhat too much) horseradish sauce, with potatoes in an extra dish. The filigree side salad from absolutely fresh ingredients is crowned by crunchy sprouts. Asian is the turquoise blue and gray-painted dishes, wonderful are the plates with Craquelée structure. In the meantime, it's completely inconsistent and reluctant to ask if everything is okay. A slippery napkin is immediately replaced so discreetly that you hardly notice it yourself. At dessert we are somewhat insecure, but can expose our cravings so that an individual creation comes to the table: a light semi-frozen from the strawberry, with some champagne poured on. Unfortunately, as a driver more alcohol is not in it, so the very imposing digestif shelf next to the bar can only be enjoyed with the eyes. My first visit was certainly not the last one. The pleasant ambience, attentive service, as well as the high-quality dishes have convinced me completely. Unfortunately, I cannot make any statements at the prices (was invited). Also worth mentioning are the very well maintained toilets, tied with Portuguese marble, as well as the very nice and cozy hotel rooms, according to my accompaniment. In good weather, the “Schlapphüadle” beer garden invites you to sit out. Only Manko: the restaurant has not opened in the afternoon – apart from Sunday. It would be like a business dinner. But we wait: in such a traditional history, it is possible for the future.
Great! I feel like home; the Theurer family is really nice person! Thank you.
