A little hidden, but definitely worth a visit! The restaurant looks amazing with its cellarlike dining rooms and low lighting. Absolutely great atmosphere....

Decided to try Gruner Trum with a friend for lunch, looking for good calamari. Was surprised about how busy the restaurant was for lunch on a weekday/no holiday! Waited just a few minutes for them to prepare a table. The atmosphere is very cozy and the ambience is nice. My very first thought was this would be great for a date night! Once seated, greeted with a complimentary shot of Ouzo, not my favorite, but nice touch. They had a lunch menu, as well as the regular menu to order from. Ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was excellent. Very well seasoned, thick rings. I had to ask for some sauce to dip and was expecting a marinara or a aioli type sauce and received a very tasty lemon-y citrus aioli type sauce. OH! After we ordered, they brought us a cup of complimentary soup that seemed to be a roasted tomato soup and it was delicious. After the soup and the calamari, I skipped on ordering a full meal and went with the Grilled Eggplant appetizer that had 4 pita triangles and sheeps cheese, tomatoes, olives, and pepper with it. It was great! Service was fair, not much English but they/we got by. They were extremely busy, so take that into account. Will definitely be making this restaurant a favorite and going more often!
