It is just not good, but it is the only game in “town”. We have been twice because we were visiting the museum and needed to eat.Next time I’ll put a lunch in the car! The food is prepackaged, processed, shipped in, whatever, and it tastes like it. Both times the staff (as opposed to the actual staff in the museum area who are great) has been unwelcoming, unhelpful, get the impression they just really don’t want to be there and wish you weren’t either. So, if you get stuck in the museum and just have to eat, go in, pull your unappetizing selection from the refrigerator, pay for it, and, if possible, eat it. At least eat enough to hold you together until you can get out and go to one of the fabulous restaurants in KC! After the museum being so great and well run this place was a shocker both times.
We needed to eat a quick lunch after visiting the WWI museum, and chose to try the Over There Cafe. We were pleasantly surprised by how delicious our food was. I really enjoyed my chicken salad sandwich and would order it again if I could! The prices weren't too bad (more expensive because of being a museum cafe), and everything tasted really fresh, like it had just been made that morning. I'm glad we didn't try to go brave downtown KC to find some lunch...this was better than that would have been anyway!
What a hidden gem in the middle of a fabulous facility. Exceptional food and wonderful service. The pulled pork was delicious. Folks working in downtown K.C. should se this as a definite lunch destination.
Very nice. Clean. Good food. Friendly service. Worth a stop!
