We stayed at our annual club meeting in Blaubeuren and chose the oxen as our conference hotel, so we eat several times there. The restaurant and hotel is located directly in the centre of Blaubeure, and parking is next to the house. As a larger group, several tables were needed, because there was no large table that disturbed the overall atmosphere. The card remained the same over the days, there was no daily ticket. I chose the young wild boar that tasted good, but not super. Conclusion: The restaurant is good, but nothing special.
Third time staying here. Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean comfortable rooms with good breakfast in beautiful Blaubeuren.
Unsafe hotel. In my experience: stay away from this hotel if you have dogs and small children. As I left the door to walk both my dogs (on leash for an evening round, an off leash dog (boxer? came charging to my dogs and attacked them. I reacted immediately out of reflex and kicked the dog twice until it stopped. If I would have been 2 seconds too late, the dog would have bitten my dogs with no doubt. It had its teeth out, aggressive body posture and was growling and snarling and kept lunging at my dogs. The owner stood up and got the dog by its collar and started shouting at me, walked up to one of my dogs (a 1 year old miniature dachshund and wanted to kick it. The dog is not even the size of his shoes! His excuse was that I had kicked his dog and that he was allowed to kick a small dog who was shaking and whining out of fear. I still stand by my action and what I did. I protected my dogs from his vicious dog. If I did not do what I have done, his 40kg dog would have probably killed my 4kg dog smaller than his shoe. It is not the dogs mistake and I feel sorry for the dog for having an owner like him. It needs professional training. It needs to be leashed and muzzled, for his own protection but above all for the protection of other dogs. Imagine children?! Imagine I left for a walk with my dogs and my nephew? How traumatizing and dangerous would that have been for a child?! I just left with my dogs (on leash for a walk and to gather my thoughts again. I was not sure how I would go back to the hotel. Was ist still safe for us to go back? Would his dog attack us again? Would the owner of the dog do us any harm? So many questions regarding our safety. This is not how one should feel staying at a hotel. About an hour later I returned. Got my small dog in my arms and my other big dog on a leash. Before entering the courtyard, from a distance, I asked them if it was OK for me to come and if they could leash the dog. One of his pals replied with “the owner is inside”. I did not get it. The owner? The owner of the dog? The owner of the hotel? Is the owner of the dog complaining about us to the owner of the hotel? So the owner of the aggressive dog comes out and apparently he is also the owner of the hotel. I was just flabbergasted. I did not know what was worse. Being attacked by an off leash aggressive dog. Or being attacked by an off leash aggressive dog who belongs to the owner of the hotel that I was paying at, who also showed aggressive behavior towards me and threatened to kick a small dog?! Without any apologies his first question was what room I am staying at and continued that the system did not mention any dogs. His posture said everything. It was clear to me that he would try to blame the event on me. I said that I had paid 340 EUR on arrival and that his employee had seen the dogs when checked-in. That the fee included an extra charge for the dogs according to his employee. He then continued with the system only showing one dog assigned to my room instead of two. Even if that is the case: 1. That’s not my responsibility 2. The dog still would have attacked if it was noted as two dogs 3. The dog is still viciously aggressive with an intent to kill (that’s what I have observed from the altercation 4. The dog needs to be leashes 5. The dog needs to be muzzled 6. The dog could have caused serious harm 7. This is no way of treating hotel guests who have been attacked by his dog due to his lack of responsibility I continued to tell him that I wanted to talk to him and apologized for kicking his dog. Even if he was the one that needed to apologize because his behavior and lack of responsibility led to this event. He cut the conversation short and said all is OK. But alls is not ‘OK’. I just did not know how to respond. All was definitely not ‘OK’. There was so much I wanted to say but I could not, as I still had one more night left at this hotel. And when he threatened to kick my miniature dachshund I just did not know if it was safe for me to say anything at all to him. Just gross.
Very nice hotel. Good familyroom. Breakfast was very complete
