Sweet Rebellion - Blacksburg

They're open again! I had LOTS from vegan and gluten-free baked goods, and often they are not big, or extremely expensive. But this place does a really good job! They were from Donuts, so they're there early, probably is a good idea. I tried a scones and it was very good... delicious and fill.

Delicious! My mother and I shared the chocolate zucchini raspberry cake and the German chocolate cake. Everything is vegan and gluten-free.

Today I have thought about how to come with a dessert for a dinner that included both vegan and gluten-incompatible guests. Neither these restrictions have ever led to a delicious dessert, but in desperate need, both I ordered a carrot cake with orange jam icing from Sweet Rebellion. As a former catererer and cooking teacher with a serious but discriminatory sweet tooth, I had low expectations when I took the smallest slice. Pleasant to say, I ended up with two more very big slices, because it's by far the best carrot cakes and carrot cakes I've ever had! I'm still wondering how it was possible at all.

Gluten free Dairy free... EVERYTHING! My wife insisted I get on here and rate Five stars because it was delicious. I have been wheat and Dairy free for almost 15 years now. (Man time flies). It is a rarity that I am able to go into any type of sweeties store and have a choice let alone something to eat at all. That being said I got a chocolate mocha cake that was incredibly rich and full of flavor. The cake itself was moist and dense, with out the under cooked or dried out feel that many gluten free cakes will tend to have. I also tried peanut butter, chocolate chip cookie that was very good, with a homemade quality that can't be replicated with any store bought cookies. If you are in Blacksburg give this place a try. I am going to the farmers market to get a brownie tomorrow. So wish we had a place like this in Fort Collins. Good luck with this new business!!
