It’s a well-loved recommendation; you might even forego the gym to indulge in it. I couldn’t be prouder. While this word-of-mouth promotion is fantastic in theory, it’s been less beneficial for my blog stats. I should probably spread the word to everyone, even if it means waiting a bit longer for my own dinner.
When it comes to the food, the menu offers a wealth of options for all tastes. However, do not expect any fusion dishes here; the philosophy is to keep Indian cuisine distinct from other offerings, which is clear in the two separate menus. Surprisingly, despite the name, the "English Menu" includes a wide variety of choices, such as tiger prawns, crispy calamari, and an assortment of pasta dishes, in addition to traditional pub favorites like fish and chips and lamb. While the extensive selection might feel a bit overwhelming, there's an earnest attempt to cater to all preferences. The Chilli Spice menu, on the other hand, focuses on exquisite Indian dishes. The starters, such as Kasondhi Ka Jhinga (jumbo prawns marinated and flavored with honey and mustard) and Barrah Kebab (lamb chops marinated in yogurt, garlic, and ginger), set an incredibly high bar for the rest of the meal. Thankfully, the Murg Methi (chicken cooked with fenugreek leaves in a creamy gravy) meets expectations, providing a delightful experience without the excessive use of spices often found in many curries. For dessert, if you have room, we recommend Gajar Ka Halwa – a classic Indian sweet dish that combines grated carrots and milk reduction in a delightful finish to your meal. As for beverages, while the wine list at the Horse Hoe Bar and Restaurant is commendable, the cocktails truly stand out. In particular, the traditional house specialties like the Lychee Martini and Spiced Mojito are successful representations of the restaurant's effort to blend Eastern and Western influences.
