Ngopi - Birmingham

I really enjoy the iced Kopi Susu (latte with palm sugar). The food options are delicious, and the Gado-Gado comes in a generous portion.

After visiting Indonesia last summer, I've been longing for many of the dishes I tried there. Ngopi is a charming little café that offers several vegan options that closely resemble what I experienced in Indonesia. I ordered gado-gado (an Indonesian salad made with a variety of boiled vegetables, tempeh, and a peanut dipping sauce), stuffed tofu, and bakwan (vegetable fritters). The food was delicious, although the service was a bit slow, and I noticed that many of their drink options contain dairy products like casein and condensed milk.

A friend recommended Ngopi to me, saying it was "a bit different," and she wasn’t wrong. It’s the most laid-back coffee shop in Birmingham. The staff are incredibly friendly and really passionate about coffee. They even roast their beans on-site, with the roaster prominently displayed on the shop floor, which is a nice touch. Although the menu has a limited number of vegan options, they’re surprisingly good given the overall variety available. I highly recommend trying the bakwan.

I was put on ngopi by a friend who said it was something different and she was right. it is the most cooled coffee shop in birmingham. the staff are very friendly and super in their care. they also fry in front of location with the coffee barn sat on the floor of the load, which is cool. they have a few vegan options on the menu that are limited but not bad compared to the size of the menu. I recommend the bakwan.
