Lovely place for traditional Pakistani breakfast. The paya are the best I have tasted in UK. The owner Haji Saab is welcoming and very intentive.
Their karak chai is also noteworthy; it’s brewed fresh and has a strong flavor, not the powdery or machine-mixed kind. The karahi dishes are made fresh (it takes more than 30 minutes after ordering), so you can see the care that goes into them. The pulao is good and the biryani is well-prepared (I prefer mine with bones and more flavor). I also enjoyed the maghaz and daal; they’re among the best Desi comfort foods around. If you opt for the handi, the tawa mix grill platter with rice and karahi is a great choice. The grill items are cooked to a high standard and the meat looks fresh. You must try the peri peri chicken—it's almost at Nando's level, but they need to maintain consistency. There have been times I’ve left disappointed, although most of the time, it’s good. They certainly know how to make samosa chaat—delicious! For dessert, their gajar ka kheer is something special. It appears to be made with khoya, and it's definitely worth trying. The mocktails are also impressive; unlike many places that just load them with sugar, here they have a beautifully aromatic mix, and they’re very affordable. While the same mocktail might cost £8 in London, here it’s only £3.95 (double-check that). I also enjoyed the organic green tea—it was very relaxing. Overall, this is one of the best Pakistani restaurants in Birmingham. The ambiance is okay and could use some improvement. The place is clean, with beautiful furniture and great lighting, though it can get a bit loud at times. The front-of-house staff are fairly organized, but they could benefit from more training. They’re friendly but need to present themselves better, as their casual approach could use some refinement. Sometimes the service is slow, but at other times, it’s quite good. I think they could improve their training and overall staff quality. Price-wise, it’s very economical for the quality of food you receive in such a clean establishment. They definitely outperform many other Asian restaurants in the area. The management, Haji Sahib, is always welcoming.
I had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant! I went with my mother and two sisters, and we ordered breakfast nihari, haleem, chicken karahi, puris, and an aloo paratha. The food arrived hot and packed with flavor, and there was more than enough to satisfy a fifth person. The aloo paratha was incredibly fluffy and generously filled. The nihari was the best I've ever had! We also enjoyed some chai with our breakfast. While the service was a bit slow, the delicious food definitely made up for it. I will definitely be back!
I had an amazing dining experience that reminded me of Pakistan. Haji Saab is fantastic, always welcoming and polite. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. I came for a traditional breakfast, but I look forward to exploring the rest of the menu soon. I'll be back very soon, and thank you for today!
