Very disappointing eating experience at one of Tasmania’s iconic beach destinations. Have been many times before as such a beautiful location, but now under new management. When we arrived the chefs were on their mobile phones and when we left, exactly the same. The fried calamari (we think frozen) was undercooked, the chips cold, soggy undercooked, while the crumbed scallops (again suspiciously frozen), were overcooked/burnt. We sent these back and they were happy to redo. This despite the fact that Tasmania prides itself on having the best, fresh produce and in St Helen’s, one of the best fishing spots in Tasmania. The desert was berries frozen out of a bag and pannacotta from a supermarket package, with no flavour. Nothing seemed fresh. Everything frozen, badly cooked, with little respect for the customer or Tasmania’s produce. Just not what you’d expect from one of Tasmania’s iconic destinations. What is happening to quality control in the island state.
Coffee was pretty good, view from deck is amazing, staff were alright
Do not get any kind of pasta. Went here for dinner last night. My husband had the crab linguine which was a pile of microwaved sludge doused in oil. I had the prawn and mussel gnocchi, store bought gnocchi with a very oily sauce. Two pastas, one glass of one and one beer set us back nearly $100. The pizzas looked good and the setting view is amazing.
