I've always been a fan of the commissary! I practically grew up in this store and learned how to shop here! However, when I visited today and requested a few brown bags for a craft project with my students, I was turned down. It's such a disappointment! I can easily come back on Saturday to do my shopping and collect the same number of bags, but it feels like they could have chosen to support the local community instead. Creating a "perfect world" is more about helping one another than being stingy with a few bags!

They have restricted veteran/retiree/dependent use of the commissary to Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many retirees still work and are unable to go on those days therefore they will go to the much smaller commissary on the naval base putting an additional strain in that commissary's ability to keep the shelves stocked. Retirees should have the right, because they have earned it, to shop from the commissary at any time and most retirees cannot manage the additional financial burden of grocery shopping off post.
