The worker told us she would remake it since we paid $35 for two toasted lox bagels and didn’t get what we asked for. Waited another 10 minutes before the owner came out and told us he wouldn’t remake it because people have different levels of toasted??? We showed him the untoasted bagel and squished it to show how soggy it was. He told us cream cheese and lox makes the bagel soggy and refused to remake the order. We have been loyal customers for 4 years and never had a negative experience but this was ridiculous and disappointing.
I’m from NY, these bagels are decently close to a bagel from my hometown. Bit of a wait to order and receive but worth it !
Unbelievable. Didn't have saugage and then didn't have plain, salt, or Russian Bagel. I walked away without ordering.Wow, Luke's Bagel's response makes it even worse. First, they call me a liar, second they demeaned a Russian bagel (for their information, here's a Russian bagel I got at Brooklyn Bagel when I visited Fort Lauderdale last weekend; see picture), and third, I will NEVER stop there again. Their sensitivity and interest in their customers is non-existent. (Sure wish there was a Brooklyn Bagel in Gainesville.)Lastly, a Wednesday at 1:30 is their busiest day? Who knew.
This place could be good if the management actually tried. The amount of chances I have given Luke’s Bagels is abhorrent considering the abysmal performance of the owners and staff. Their bagels are well crafted, but always come out soft and untoasted no matter what you order. Bagels are insanely overpriced, especially considering that their employees are paid tipped wages $7.25/hr). The fact that, after waiting 15-20 minutes in line to order, I am then forced to wait another 15-30 just for a bagel with cream cheese is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that fresh food takes time to prepare, but never in my life have I had to wait more than 10-15 minutes for a fresh bagel. Even with no line, I’ve found myself waiting upwards of ten minutes for a simple bagel with cc. It’s not the workers’ fault that they don’t get paid enough to put any effort into their jobs, but it is an issue that desperately needs addressing. Maybe if the owners actually cared Luke’s could be successful in the customer service department and finally become a restaurant that deserving of the amount of praise it gets.
Best bagels! They are really NY style bagels, verified by my NY and NJ friends. Worth the wait and always great service! It is a staple for our weekends in Gainesville.
