Au Gratin Restaurant - Bezirk Zuerich

Really cool place near the old town. Club ambientation, authentic dishes, beer&football also.

Expensive place, decent food, average service The overall experience I had when I visited this restaurant was average The food is good, but it clearly doesn't stand up to the high prices. The inside looks very classy, with solid wooden tables and chairs. It's nice, but it's not really my cup of tea. Now, when it comes to the service, I can say that I wasn't very happy. First, the waiter was unable to find a big enough table for us to sit outside on the terrace, although we asked for that in the reservation. Second, the waiter kept on bugging us to order the drinks as soon as we sat at the table, although we didn't have the chance to read the menu yet. Finally, they were not very willing to speak in English to my friends who don't know German, although the restaurant is located in the hearth of the city, next to the main station, and you would expect that there are a lot of tourists in this area.

With a few friends enjoyed a dinner on the balcony overlooking the trams at Zurich's main train station. Can be a little bit noisy. My "Barcelona" gratin was ok but it lacked a special touch. The Hugo drink was fine. The staff were friendly.

The good new is that it is close to the main station and that you might always find a table, it is also pretty quiet so good for discussions. The food is average, gratins are good but nothing to exult about. The prices are abusive, but usual for an average place in Zurich.
