Silver - Bethesda

We met here last night for dinner with extra-city friends. it was the perfect place to gather in a comfortable and easily accessible location. eating was delicious as usual. I really appreciate all vegetarian options!

Beautiful meal, except that we were asked to leave our table after 1 hour. we had an 11 o'clock reservation, and the hostess booth had a sign that explained there was a 90-minute limit on all tables. in this case our party would have the table until 12:30. we sat at 11 o'clock immediately, finished eating at 11:45 o'clock and paid the deck around 12 o'clock. we sat at the tablemate (since the sign, we thought we had it up to 12:30 clock) when we were asked to go since the table was needed. while we committed, I asked our waitress about the sign that showed 90 minutes on the table and she was confused and went on to check with the host back. the waitress and host then both said that we had to leave at this moment, although the sign clearly said that the tables had a 90 min limit and we were good within this time frame. I'm happy to leave my table when finished, but don't let people think they have a table up to 12:30 and then they kick in. that was badly treated by the hostesses this morning.

We arrived for a late lunch at 3 PM. Is that shift change? The place was not a bit crowded. The service was spotty at best. The server was very pleasant but not to be found most of the time. On at least two occasions we had to ask someone to find her for us. She is nice but needs to pay more attention to the few diners in her area.

We will likely not go back to Silver. Two people in our party ordered cocktails and both sent them back because they were so bad they were undrinkable. The bruschetta appetizer was good and plenty for our table of four especially since our entrees came out less than 10 minutes after the appetizer arrived. None of our entrees were very good. They weren’t bad, but we’re not memorable enough to make any of us want to return. Our waiter was fine, but somewhat pretentious about the food and tried to upsell almost all of us on a more expensive entree.

Overall, it was a good experience. The food was pretty good. There did seem to be a language barrier between us and the waitress along with a bit of sarcasm which could have simply been from her not understanding. The French toast was a bit doughy for my tasting; however, it wasn’t terrible.
