Not Your Average Joe's - Bethesda

I enjoyed my dinner so much that I returned for lunch the next day when I passed by. Today, I had grilled sardines again, along with some delicious debase and half a bottle of wine. The food was amazing, and the prices were unbeatable. This is a true mom-and-pop restaurant located on the coast of Porto, yet the prices are quite reasonable and not geared towards tourists. It’s very affordable compared to American standards.

Love the salads, and the options are plentiful. It was hard to make a decision what to get. The bread and the oil that comes before the meal as a small appetizer is always a big treat. The Focaccia is fresh and the oil mixture has a small kick. Fresh ingredients, beers are cold, and the mixed drinks are delicious. Terraces from the back and from the front are great experiences, on a beautiful day.

We visited the restaurant with our family, who has multiple allergies, including common ones like peanuts, tree nuts, and shellfish, as well as less common ones like dyes and sunflower seeds. Our server, Alice, was amazing. She took the time to verify all our allergies and ensured that everything was handled properly. The cook was also very attentive and prepared allergy-safe meals while providing a list of ingredients. It's rare to find places that truly go the extra mile to keep my family safe while dining!

Grand Jambalaya! The kids weren't fans of the macaroni and cheese because it was homemade. Conclusion? We definitely need to try making mac and cheese from scratch more often!
