Green Island Jamaican Food - Bethel

The food was delicious and the portions were generous. There is a great selection of dishes available. Although the space is somewhat small, the owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming.

First, be aware that not all food is available for walk-in customers. Most entrees need to be ordered in advance and are cooked to order, which was disappointing since I was hoping to try callaloo saltfish. However, we adapted and chose from the ready-made options, including jerk chicken, curry goat, brown stew chicken, and patties. The curry goat was well-prepared, although it could have used a bit more curry. It was tender and flavorful, and I appreciated the extra gravy served over my rice. The patty and cabbage were decent, but the collard greens were inedible; we all tried them and found them far too spicy—almost unbearably so.

The food at this restaurant is excessively expensive for the small portions you receive. The spice bun was hard and lacked flavor. Management should reassess their food costs to make more reasonable pricing decisions. Charging $14 for a small dish is outrageous—three pieces of plantains, a teaspoon of vegetables, and a tiny serving of rice simply isn't worth it. Overall, the meal was not enjoyable.

Good restaurant and good food. Hit or miss sometimes with your order. I ordered a large goat soup but received chicken soup instead. Maybe due to understaffing and/or popularity.

Food had no flavor and it was WAY overpriced. $25.00 for j chicken with rice and a sprite. Crazy Crazy Crazy.
