It was quite disheartening to see the other well-behaved children at City Star watching in disbelief as these two acted out so inappropriately. The staff managed the situation with great professionalism, with one team member even getting down on their hands and knees to clean up the mess. Additionally, her children were running around the restaurant and were politely asked to stop. Despite this incident, we had a wonderful experience at City Star!
We’ve been coming to City Star for several years and have always enjoyed their beers. When we arrived today, we were welcomed, at every turn, by bright yellow signs about keeping your kids at the table and/or at arms length. As a mother myself, I know kids can get rambunctious and disruptive and unfortunately some people are not responsible parents. That being said, it was so overwhelming and anxiety inducing making sure my, very well behaved, son was being quiet and not leaving the table. We didn’t even fully finish our drinks before deciding just to leave.Although the sign mentions “while we love hosing families” the feeling is extremely uncomfortable, off putting and very unwelcoming.Maybe implementing family hours would be better than their passive aggressive tactics. Such a bummer.
Delicious beers! The chai watchman was delicious. Cute and quaint.
Wonderful atmosphere and fantastic beer! The only downside was that some entitled patrons allowed their children to run wild. The staff and management do their best to handle these disrespectful guests and their kids. Some parents might benefit from taking their business—and their lack of consideration—somewhere else.
The staff was extremely condescending and rude. They yelled at the kids, and I was shocked to see the owner put his hand in a parent’s face. It’s really disappointing to see this once beloved hometown restaurant go downhill like this. If there's an issue with a child, it's better to speak to the parents directly. When I tried to address the situation, I was rudely interrupted and disrespected. This wasn't the farewell to Berthoud that we were hoping for. I had brought friends and family here because I used to take pride in this establishment, which was once a gem. As a lifelong entrepreneur and restaurateur, I believe that staff should treat customers with respect. I can see that I'm not the only local who has noticed this decline.
