We stayed in Bern for a special wedding anniversary and the Restaurant Zum Ausseren stand is really excellent. From the moment we came to the moment we were gone, we were treated so well and the food was incredible in presentation and taste. Wonderful. The next time we are in Bern, we will definitely try to eat here. This cook always goes upstairs.
I really enjoyed my lunch here in the very heart of Bern Altstadt. The restaurant is easy to find, a mere 10 minute walk from the main railway station. Thumbs up to Anna, who provided a lovely service unobstrusive and efficent at the same time. The dining room is nice and a real spot of quietness in the middle of the bustling city. The menu is rather short but much tempting. As starter I opted for the Swiss veal tartar with fleur de sel much more delicate than the classical beef tartar. It was followed by a succulent main course: sautéed canterels and homemade agnolotti filled with herbs and ricotta cheese. To die for! The dessert a classic Café Glacé crowned this delicious lunch. Obviously it comes as no surprise that prices are fairly expensive. Including 2dl white wine, sparkling warer and coffee, the bill amounted to hefty CHF92. I will definitely come back to this restaurant.
Best meal in Bern! The five-course meal was exceptional. The deer was extraordinary, and the fish dishes were excellent. Highly recommend!
This location has a long and interesting history in Berne which makes it a desirable location for history buffs alone. The cuisine is perfectly paired with complimentary ingredients to allow for a perfect evening. The service is spectacular and accommodating.
The place is very formal and the service aptly complements the atmosphere. I came wearing a flannel shirt and felt out of place. I had a complimentary pumpkin soup which was delectable followed by the main course Rehpfeffer. The dish was uniquely flavourful and I washed it down with their recommendation of smooth and sweet Swiss Pinot Noir. Overall it was a good lunch experience. They could work on the interior which I felt rather bland for a fine dining restaurant.
