Zum Hecht - Berlin

To be honest, this place is ridiculous. Don't expect a craft cocktail. Don't expect craft beer. Do expect the most enjoyable ambience. A slightly sleazy, smoky bar full of people. There are young people. There are old people. There are really really old people. There...are people who will buy your whole table a round and talk about their lives. You can play cards there are at least decks on hand. You can expect fast service you're only going to order beer here. If you get hungry, there are breads and sausages and pickles available, it's practically all you can eat. You can take a shower, but it will take you a week to wash the Zum Hecht experience away and you'll want to bring it back the second it's gone. Come here. Get weird. Have the best night ever. Or day the place is always open

I'm heartbroken to say this but something really weird happened to me in this small bar. I'm not German and I don't speak a good German and I asked twice for a beer and waited for almost minutes and the bar woman basically ignored...me and turned to the other side, serving other people that came after instead. If this is not racism I don't know what it is. I left almost in tears, without my beer

Certainly one for smokers and footy fans but a decent local no frills at all boozer. Sells beer, more beer and a large selection of gins

This pub was minutes walk from my hotel during a short holiday in Berlin.It is dark,smoky,old.....in fact everything that makes a good pub in any country.Excellent beer,at reasonable prices.Open hours a day!Visited it most days.Second time there a local asked me where I...came fromScotlandand bought me a half litre before he knew my name.It is that kind of place.You can keep your modern bars,I will go to a place like Zum Hecht any day

In the never closing Pike you can always enjoy a new experience with the constant changing locals. A lovely place for meeting the Berliners day and night. And a very charming service . .
