A vegan friend took me here for dinner on a recent visit to Berlin. The food was great & I liked the restaurant very much, great selection of beers too. The only thing that let it down was the speed of the service, but I must say staff very friendly & nice
Decor: cosy and warm. Service: Not friendly, almost rude. Food: I ordered a menu (19.90 €). First meal was bruschette with beetroot cream and mushrooms on top. The bread was nice, perfectly toast, the cream was okay, but the mushrooms were too salty. Like toooooo salty. I almost had tears in my eyes. The main dish was a risotto with lemon zest with grilled fennel. The fennels were nice and crunchy, but the risotto..... How to describe it? The risotto was almost a soup and really overcooked. The taste was frankly weird. It was kind of sweet, kind of sour, but the mixture of ingredients made it taste like bile.... Yes, bile! The desert was pretty bizarre too. It was a chia and ginger pudding. Man that was a lot of ginger. I love ginger, but frankly I had the feeling I was eating a piece of ginger for desert. Drinks: nice iced lemon teaEn résumé: lack of finesse. (Who am I? I'm a vegan foodie from Switzerland and from Asian descent)
Went looking for vegan and cabbed it to this place. Small and would call or email to reserve in the future. All organic which was a plus. Had the Cali Bowl, great flavors and became a fan of the home made ketchup that added great flavor to sweet potato fries. My friend had the beet based falafel which rocked. We were both stuffed. The desert with berries not quite hit the spot. Staff was friendly but the curry flavored popcorn which is brought to the table was stale and had the potential of messing with the sense buds and affect truly enjoying the meal.
My girlfriend (vegan) and I (all-around-eater) went to The Bowl for lunch. I had a falafel bowl, which was absolutely delicious and that's a lot to say from me who is still learning my way around vegetable and vegan food. My girlfriend had the lunch of the week, which she enjoyed. That's all the positive stuff. Downsides were small portion sizes when cosidering the price (~11/portion.) Definetly overpriced compared to other vegan lunch spots. The service was really slow, our food took ~40 minutes, which they of course apologized for. If you're really hungry, don't visit The Bowl, but if you're looking for a nice vegan place to hangout with your friends, drink wine and enjoy good food, I can recommend this restaurant.
