I 'm completely baffled by the glowing yet small amount of reviews and more than a little suspicious. Myself and my husband visited on Thursday 15th November 2018, it was 7.15pm and we were the only ones in there. The female owner brought over a specials...board with only three items on, none of which were appealing to us, but no problem so far. We asked for two beers and were told We don 't do beer, we are a wine restaurant . Yet two types of beer are listed on the menu?? As for the menu, it was two sparse pages, one for food, one for drinks. We ordered two glasses of wine we didn 't actually want but it was starting to feel a bit awkward as she hovered at our table trying to push the, in our opinion, overpriced specials. There were literally about eight dishes to choose from, including starters, and three of the mains were fish, which we both like but we were there that night hoping for something one would typically associate with an Italian restaurant garlic bread, pizza, lasagne, meatballs, spag bol, chicken etc. By this point we were really struggling so I asked her about the carbonara as I was thinking I might have that, until she told us it was made with artichoke?! When she briefly left us alone we quickly decided that we shouldn 't feel guilty about not ordering pretty expensive food we didn 't want, so when she returned we very politely and gently explained our predicament and would like to just pay for the wine. This did not go down well. She went over to her husband and was obviously telling him in a scornful way of the type of food we had mentioned. Then he came over to our table, fists on hips, Hey Mister, what 's your problem?? . Once again we very politely explained that there was no problem, and we would really just like to pay for the wine and not waste any more of their time. He walked back to his spot at the back of the restaurant where they continued to make it very clear they were disgusted with us. She finally told us how much she wanted for the wine, and we even tipped. We just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible, and as we did she cackled mockingly! It was so awkward, a horrible and unnecessarily embarrassing experience. Bizarre behaviour.
Local, family run Italian which we found by accident but went back to by choice. The food is simple but delicious, esp the pasta, and the experience is enhanced by the owners who made us very welcome and, as we were the last to leave...on both occasions, sat with us and chatted over grappa. Recommended.
Great experience, the restaurant was next door from our hotel but it was good choice...delicious pasta, cozy interior, recommend for sure!
Discovered this small Italian restaurant a while ago, I don't want to be without it. Run by a German Italian couple (both in their 50 60s) she takes the orders with her special sense of humour while he is preparing the dishes. As the cook comes from...the Island of Ischia, the menu offers a small put delicous range of pasta, fish and meat. The vitello tonnato is one of the best I've ever had, the pasta with truffels and parmigiano reggiano is mouth watering (only seaonal available). On some days they offer pizza, which tastes marvellous. Also the desserts are wonderful. The wine shelf offers some nice discoveries from smaller Italian vineyards. But even the open wines offer a excellent quality price ratio. Overall the prices are very moderate. The restaurant is quite small (maybe 10 tables) so the athmosphere is quite familiar even if the interior is something between kitschy and witty but really authentic.
