Hasir Ocakbasi - Berlin

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time as some friends have raved about how good the food is.I walked in and was asked very rudely by a waiter "yes what do you like"? Not hello , how are you or anything. Okay I thought maybe he is just busy, I get that after working in restaurants for 14 years.So I said a table for two. Tells me sit where I want, so I sat down. Another lady brings over menus and walks away.I waited for another 15 minutes, and when the same waiter passed by the table who I first encountered walks by so I said "excuse me" really nicely, he turns around with a disgusting look on his face and said "yes what do you want" in the most rudest tone I have ever in my 5 years of living here in Berlin heard from someone, especially a waiter.I got up and said okay I'm going to leave, he said to me "ok bye" again so rude.So I asked to speak to the manager, to be fair she did try to apologize and get me to stay however I feel like I would rather spend my hard earned money and night out for dinner with my friend who I don't get to see often at an establishment that values their customers, good reviews on food were just not enough for me to eat there after that treatment.Do your self a favor and go else where, where you will have good food and good service. If I could give this place no stars I would.

We ate here late in the evening, this is a 'grittier' area than the central tourist area. Good Turkish cuisine great taste and flavour, the menu appears to be mainly meat based. The deserts looked really good but didn't try any as we had limited time. The restaurant was very busy but the service was still excellent providing good basic food at a good value.

After 2 days of fairs in Berlin we asked our driver to recommend a restaurant on the way to the airport. This is the place where he normally goes with his wife, was his anwser... I could reccon, we had a fresh and authentic Turkish lunch which was delicious. The staff was friendly and made it a pleasant last lunch in Berlin.

I was with a friend who lives in Germany, and swore that this would be some sort of exotic food for me who lives in the states. Turns out we also have very similar turkish food here, hence why i wasn't overly impressed by the food served by this establishment. I will say that the baklava was amazing. It is the best i have ever tasted and is in no way similar to what is served in the US under the same name. The food was again very similar in taste to what ive had in the US. If you have tasted Turkish food in any other place in the world this will be very similar. If not you might as well start somewhere.

Mainly meat food, quality is ok and the service is fast. Prices are in the average or just a bit more higher
