During an onshore excursion to Berlin we came across this restaurant which was listed by the local tour company. This is a small bistro style restaurant located in the city center. The food is average and nothing exceptional or extraordinary. We ordered the meat ball with light potato salad and the veal ragout with puffed pastry and light mixed vegetable salad.
My husband and I went today for a quick lunch, we both had the pasta dishes, which were ok, I then asked for an espresso and one Apple strudel with ice cream only and no cream. 10 minuets later, the dessert came with cream and ice cream, which has a price difference. I am not bothered about the €1.50 difference, what bothers me is that when I politely pointed out that I ordered the one without cream, the barman just left his shoulders up and ignored me, and the espresso was never served! Manners don't cost anything, and if you don't want to face foreign customers, than do not work in a bar in the centre of Berlin, when you are likely to face tourists!
I have never written a bad review before but....on a recent visit to this Bistro in Berlin I ordered veal in puff pastry. I was served what can best be described as cat food in both appearance and I assume taste. To add insult to injury my plate was whisked away by our surly server without even asking why I had barely touched my dinner. I was not in the mood to argue when the bill arrived so we paid and left. In hindsight we should have said something at the time.
Stopped here for a snack for lunch and to sit and watch the world go by. We ordered Currywurst and a toasted baguette with Camembert, tomato onion and lettuce. The Currywurst is a national dish you say everywhere and everyone eating this. Currywurst is a Bratwurst sausage covered in a tomato ketchup and curry sauce and mine was accompanied with potato salad. It's hard to describe the taste of Currywurst but it filled the spot and we washed it down with a lager called Berliner Kindl which was beautiful.Overall pleasant experience and decent food.
